The obvious next post

It's funny how things clump together in the head. Last week I posted a poem (here) about something that happened at a Manchester club night called Flesh (years ago). One of the most memorable features of that club was a marvellous performer known as the Divine David (now known more regularly as David Hoyle). David is interviewed in today's Guardian (here) and it's well worth a read so go, go, go. David's material is very... different to the Two Ronnies (who we saw in the last post). It is full-on in pretty much every sense - tightrope walking stuff (my god, he's good though). Here's a tiny taster:

Interesting guy alright, good point he makes there too.

This is a gentle ease-you-in piece of DH. There's plenty more online if you want to see more... though it's not for those who are easily shocked.

Why isn't he running for PM?

I'm not sure there's a party who could hold him... he'd have to be an independent!

Loved the interview. Thanks a lot, missed it the first time around, don't know why. And liked the clip.

Greetings from London.

It was in the little pull-out section. I don't read the Guardian every day - just luck that I spotted this one!

An existential Julian Clary. What a find!

I'm not sure how thrilled he'd be with that comparison...but I know you mean it well, Dick. He'd have some fun with your name in return maybe (though perhaps you've heard them all...). I was shrieking with laughter at one of his more cock-based quips on another clip last night... rude, rude and ruder still...

Never heard of him before. What a find! Thanks.

He has some new shows in London just now (hence the press coverage). He's been doing shows of one kind or another for years though mainly in gay venues, I think (though he attacks many aspects of the gay scene quite regularly...try this for example...). No-one is spared...

Though we worked in some of the same places I didn't know him personally at all. Shame.

Gonna have to chase this. Cheers.
