Other people's decisions

Speaking of big decisions (as we were last time) here's a link to an interview with Benjamin Zephaniah where he covers that subject too (down near the end of the piece). It's worth reading... but then he always is.

Link courtesy of Claire Askew and her always comprehensive One Night Stanzas. She scours the media so we don't have to!

I read that last week... good interview. The bit that got me was when he said: "What I'm proudest of is waking up one day in a house in Birmingham, having slept that night with a gun under my pillow, and saying, 'I don't want to do that any more.'"

Oh, and I second that acknowledgement og Claire A and her always comprehensive links. :)

Og to you too D. Been in the sun?

We had the best weekend here...so much sunshine made the music festival just perfect and this morning we even went to the outdoor swimming pool up the coast at Stonehaven. Sunshine, swimming, music, beer...I feel like I'm on holiday...

Erm, oggie oggie oggie?

I of course meant "of" :)

And yes I've been in the sun... glorious down here as well! I expect to be hallucinating with heatstroke within the next few hours. (That happened to me when I was 7... I wandered naked through a south african hotel corridor saying "it's over there". My mother asked what was over their. I said "everything". I was a freaky child, I think.)

Oh, and can we expect a review of the music fest?

Probably not a proper one...everyone we saw was pretty good but we especially enjoyed a band called the Fortunate Sons earlier on today (our babysitter is away so we mainly went to daytime stuff). There was a lovely atmosphere in town all weekend though - sunshine helps of course but nearly all the events are free so that means people can float about and try lots of things.

All free events? That'd never happen on the West coast...

Well, there is one big concert in the Town Hall that has priced tickets but that tends to be a band I can live without (last year Average White Band, this year Deacon Blue). There are lots of great bands and musicians in the pubs though and on the stage in the market square (and all that's free). I hope the festival stays like that and doesn't end up £150 advance tickets only and camping (10 to a tent). I'm too old for all that...
