My dear friends, what a week it has been here. My Mum has been so, so ill - it's really been quite horrible. I've done a lot of running about, a lot of laundry, a lot of crying.
But today the doctor says she is a tiny bit better. So here's a song.
And I might even make the poetry night here on Friday after all. Maybe.

Look - very tired...didn't even credit the song! It's Heidi Talbot performing a song written by Simon Bruce and Tim Schumacher. John McCusker fiddling, Boo Hewerdine guitaring...

Rachel, so sorry to hear that, hope she's on the mend now!
It's going to be very slow whatever but today is better than yesterday and it is HEAPS better than the day before!

So sorry to hear the news Rachel - do hope by this time your Mum is on the mend. It is such a worrying time isn't it, but I am sure you are getting a lot of support from your two significant others. All my best wishes to you.
That's terrible.Hope mam gets well soon and that you make the poetry nite on friday.
Yer wan is a beautiful singer be the way.
Oh Rachel, my best wishes to both Mum and you. I hope she keeps on improving and that she's turned a corner now. I expect you're shattered, so look after yourself as well as you can, and here's hoping for your big night on Friday.
What an atmospheric song: goosebumps.
Very sorry to hear that Rachel. Hope she's improving.
Yes, she's improved steadily today and that's been a huge relief and a big change. It was really looking pretty bad on Monday.
We've had some great support from lovely doctors and nurses and care assistants (all in the home). Amazing.

Thinking of you all, Rachel x
Thanks Claire.
And watching the Heidi T vid again I see I missed out other fiddler Tola Custy and a double bass player (not sure who that is).
My eyes are tired from lack of shutting. Off to bed now.

Hope your Mom is feeling better by the time your weary eyes wander back this way.
When I was a kid I couldn't wait to be an adult. Now that I'm here and all the "adults" in my family begin to fall apart, I'm not so sure I should've run towards Grown Up Land so quickly.
From one "care giver" to the other...YOU get some rest too!
Sorry to hear that Rachel, big hugs your way. Hope you get a good night's sleep because your big poetry event night is going to be fantastic :)
Fingers and toes all crossed for your mum's continued improvement. I know how terrifying it is when a parent is gravely ill. Hope you're getting a good sleep as I type this, X
I am so sorry to hear about your Mum. I hope she continues to improve. Sending you my best wishes and prayers.
Hope your Mum gets fully better soon...
Best wishes to you and your Mum. I'll be thinking of you.
Wishing your mum a speedy recovery, Rachel and yourself some rest and the poetry night out.
Thanks all. No bad news just now. And I slept all last night (how much easier everything is when you've had a night's sleep...).

Rachel, I hope your mum comes through, it's no fun for the carers - mine is nearly worn to the bone.
I'm getting a lot of help, Barbara...and even so it's quite hard, you're right. Easier today than earlier this week though.

Stressful times. Hope things are continuing to look up for you all.
Take care Rachel. Thinking of you.
Oh darling....huge hugs. I hope she'll be alright now. I'm thinking of you. xx
She's 86 today...and doing much better than I would have believed if you'd told me so earlier in the week!
Thanks all for your wishes.
