Hold that thought

Much as I hate to, as it were, interrupt us all in full flow...please just stop thinking about sex for a minute and head over to Juliet Wilson's Bolts of Silk. I had seen Juliet's Crafty Green Poet name here and there but it was via Claire Askew that I came to her Bolts of Silk page (so thanks, Claire). The Bolts of Silk page/site/blog is a gorgeous place - great images, striking name and I love the subheading most of all - 'beautiful poetry with something to say'. Amen to that...awomen too while we're at it. There is one of my poems on there today but it's worth keeping an eye on the page (or sending poems over too). No whingeing, no bitching...just good things over there.

Now you can get back down to the sex post below. If you must...

That's a great one, linking autumn and family trees :)

Thanks Barbara. When I've read that poem in public I always find myself reading it really slowly...like I'm getting older as I read! People seem to like it...and if a proper poet like you does too then maybe I'm doing OK! (Barbara's book 'Kairos' is full of beautiful poems with something to say, by the way).

Thanks for the link. I'd already been over there and visited once or twice, but you lit the fire to submit a few poems, which I just did.

Threshold of revelation.

Altogether now...I am the firestarter, the twisted firestarter...

It's a very nice site Rachel, and I enjoyed your poem. I like Juliet's choice of poetry - she casts a very wide net. Of course you could also send poems to Poetry Scotland' Open Mouse too...

I did once - no joy. And I sent to the PS too...haven't you heard that story?

Having worked on my family tree for most of my so-called vacation, this one was especially touching. Well done!

Your holiday's not over already is it Hope?

I particularly liked:

You look down at the ground
Where the leaves all fall some day
And wonder how it will be
To lie in the mulch for a while

I've been in Wales for the last 10 days, so missed out on your recent racy posts! However, it struck me that a poem about family trees is not a million miles away from sex.

I was wondering where you were, Dominic!

I'm glad you're liking this poem. I'm going to read it at the folk club here tonight I think. We've got Scots-now-Canadian David Francey coming - a great songwriter - so I'm really looking forward to that.

Yes, sadly, I am only allowed a week off at a time....even though I "earn" three weeks a year.

So that means the next time off for me is...my annual "Hey, it's my birthday and I'm taking the week off!" tribute in January. ;)
